My name is Joan Chintz, I'm a senior who is on the cusp of being a baby boomer. I moved from the Philadelphia area to Southern California, after leaving teaching in Philadelphia. I decided to embark on a new vocation in real estate and received my license in 1991, leading to a lifetime of experiences. The following year, I took a Senior Real Estate Specialist Certification program (SRES). This experience prepared me to help my parents. My family home was filled with a collection of 50 years of memories. Can you imagine... everything in the house was so special to them? Yet, the condition of the house was deteriorating, and they could no longer keep up the maintenance. I went there to help them through the sorting process, hired a realtor, and moved them into a more manageable place to live. A few years following that move, my father passed away. I relocated my mother closer to me in California. She lived in an independent living community for nine years, which made a huge difference for both of us.
In 2005, I needed to make some big changes in my own life, My husband of over 30 years passed away from cancer. I made the decision to sell my home and change my situation, As a result, I needed to be around more people and go through the downsizing process myself.
In 2008, an old family friend introduced me to Bob Heck. Bob had just lost his wife, of over 30 years, to cancer. He had also been a caregiver to her and his mother for 10 years. Even though we lived miles apart, we had much in common. After 6 months of phone calls and discussions, we fell in love and decided to become life partners and work together. Bob's experience of working for a national independent, assisted living, and memory care community for two years as a Director of Sales and Marketing added to his knowledge. This guided us to specialize and work with others that are going through similar situations and still would like to live an active lifestyle. We love sharing our love for Pickleball with community residents.
We moved from Northern California to the Carlsbad area of San Diego in the beginning of the Pandemic. As the “Chintz Team" we are very familiar with many of the senior communities, placement companies, financial advisors, part of Aging Well Partners and the downsizing process. More recently, Joan became a Certified Probate and Trust Specialist. Our passion is very clear: Leave the hard work to us. We will take care of everything in the downsizing process. We have the patience, experience, and understanding of what seniors and their families are going through.
